The first Fredericksburg Emmaus members began
meeting in April 1989. We held gatherings for months before the first walk was
conducted. Fredericksburg Walk to Emmaus #1 was held October 9th-12th, 1991
at Camp Easter Seals in Sparta, Virginia. In November
2004 after our 56th Walk, Camp Easter Seals closed the camp we had been using.
After several weeks of searching, God led our Community to the Salvation Army's
Camp Happyland, near Fredericksburg, VA and in March of 2005, a new chapter
began with Emmaus 57 at Camp Happyland.
Over the years, the Fredericksburg Emmaus Community has grown. In addition
to our members that Walked in Fredericksburg we have embraced Christians from
many other Communities throughout the country. As of the Spring of 2009, our

As members of this Community, we have been truly blessed to
be in Communion with so many different peoples and traditions.
We are a movement and a community with strong tradition and rich history,
supported and nurtured by a devoted core of pastors and laity from area
churches. We pray that Christ smiles when He looks through the scrapbook of the
Fredericksburg Emmaus Community.
